Effect Of Forging Process On The Quality Of Forging

Forging process generally consists of the following processes, namely, blanking, heating, forming, cooling after forging, pickling and forging heat treatment.

Forging process if improper process may produce a series of forgings defects.

Heating process, including loading furnace temperature, heating temperature, heating rate, holding time, furnace gas composition. If improper heating, such as heating temperature is too high and heating time is too long, it will cause decarburization, overheating, over burning and other defects. For the section size and poor thermal conductivity, low plasticity of the blank, if the heating rate is too fast, holding time is too short, often make the temperature distribution is uneven, causing thermal stress, and the billet cracking occurred.

Forging forming process includes deformation mode, degree of deformation, deformation temperature, deformation rate, stress state, mold conditions and lubrication conditions, etc., if the forming process is not properly, it may cause coarse grains, uneven grains, various cracks, . Cold flow, eddy current, as-cast tissue residue.

Forging after cooling process, if improper process may cause cooling cracks, white spots, mesh carbides and so on.
